Pause to savor the moment…
After his speech and before making his way out, he stopped and looked out across the crowds that had gathered at the Capitol for his second inauguration.
“I’m going to take a look one more time,” he said, standing in the doorway. “I’m not going to see this again.”
Today was a very good day and of all the moments I witnessed this was my favorite of these ceremonies, because it was in that moment that I realized; that I am not pausing to savor my own moments enough.
What I’ve noticed is that too often I fail to pause to savor the sweetness of my accomplishment. I fail to turn around and reflect on the obstacles I’ve overcome, the struggles that indeed have made me a stronger person, the resilience that pushes me forward and the individuals who befriened and supported me during my journey.
I would ask that as we are relishing and celebrating this monumental achievement with “The First Family,” let us not forget to “pause” and savor our own accomplishments not long after they’ve passed, but while they are ripe and before us.
Congratulations Mr. President!
